This event (run by the North Berks MMC for many years at the Horse and Harrow, West Hagbourne) has now moved to the next village, Upton.
Normally a well attended event this year’s effort turned out to be a bit of a “damp squib”. Very damp as it turned out, the non stop rain all day and evening had clearly put most people off, none the less a number of hardy souls – including a few club members – made the effort to turn up with their machines.
The outside bar and burger van probably didn’t do too well because of the lack of people, likewise the ladies in the village hall had a lot of cakes and buns left over at the end of the night. Disappointing really as profits were to go to the local ambulance.
There was plenty of room at the new venue so hopefully the event will grow into it, in future years.
The photo shows the rather modest classic/vintage bike line up, with a number of competition machines in the background. Best in show award – just visible in the centre of the line – was won by a very nice BSA Shooting Star
