BMRCO ride to Donnington Brewery – Sunday May 7th 2017 – Report

A total of 24 members and guests were led a circuitous route to Donnington Brewery (nr Stowe on the Wold) by Rod with Paul doing a sterling job as tail end charlie. This is the first time I have taken part in a ride using the “drop off system” and I have to admit that it worked perfectly; without it I am sure that the 21 bikes would not have got to the destination as one group, if they had got there at all.

My thanks to Rod for organising it and a big thanks to Paul for ably bringing up the rear.

The brewery is located on private land and is quite idyllic. We were welcomed by the owner (and family) of the brewery and were given a guided tour by the head brewer with explanations given at every stage. I think it fair to say we were enthralled by the “olde world” nature of the process, the equipment and the rooms. The last stop on the tour was the tasting room……the beer sampled was quite excellent.

A huge thanks to the owner of the brewery, the head brewer and other staff who gave up their free time to look after us. Also a big thank you to Janice for opening up the Red Lion to provide coffee and tea.

The 6 guest riders enjoyed the day and we hope they will visit us again.
