VMCC Boxing Day Meet 2013 – Red Lion Cassington

Members with long memories will know of the local VMCC’s Boxing Day Meet in St Giles, and more latterly in Broad Street Oxford. Both of these venues are now denied, and attempts to relocate to the Market Square in Abingdon have come to nought.

All is not however lost, as the meet will now take place outside the Red Lion, Cassington, our very own club’s HQ. Hopefully there will be a good gathering of interesting bikes (VMCC and others). Many BMRCO members have taken part/attended in this annual event over the years and can vouch for it to be well worth turning up for.

Our landlady (Jan) will be opening from about 10 O’clock to serve hot tea and coffee. So come along and burn off some of that Christmas pud!

Any member who would like to come along and view the machinery, or join the ride to Fyfield or attend the Vintage Trial afterwards is welcome. The trial takes place at Besselsleigh and it is exciting to see old iron in action.

For more details speak to John or Geoff.

Event report (John Lay)

Despite being only thought of about three weeks ago and organised at even shorter notice the joint meet with the Oxford Section of the VMCC went very well with around 60 machines turning up. Our landlady (Jan) opened up to serve hot drinks, and even the weather cooperated by staying dry complete with hazy sunshine. This may well become a regular event in years to come if this years turn out is anything to go by.
The photos show just some of the many bikes “on parade”
